Memoriya is a service owned and operated by Built By Signal LLC, an Ohio limited liability company ("Built By Signal," "we," "us," or "our"), which is the entity responsible for the personal information collected through Memoriya. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information. By using our platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, name, and authentication credentials (managed through Google or email/password).
Relationship Data
You voluntarily provide memories, moments, preferences, and other relationship context. This includes text entries, dates, categories, and any metadata you choose to add.
Usage Information
We automatically collect device information, browser type, IP address, access times, and pages viewed to improve our service and ensure security.

3. Relationship and Memory Data Handling
Private Data
Memories and moments marked as private stay private to you. We don't share them with other users or sell them to third parties. Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Shared Data
Data in active relationships is shared between you and your invited partner. Both users can view and contribute to shared memories and moments.
Who can see your notes
Your notes are private to you and, for shared spaces, the partner you invite. They aren't visible to other users or sold to anyone. Because your data is stored on our infrastructure (not end-to-end encrypted), a small number of authorized staff can technically access it — but only when needed for support, security, or to comply with the law, under least-privilege access that is logged and audited. We don't read your notes for any other reason.
4. AI and Automated Processing Disclosure
Memoriya uses artificial intelligence to:
- Generate personalized prompts and reminders
- Analyze patterns in your relationship data
- Create weekly recaps and insights
- Suggest meaningful moments to resurface
AI processing occurs securely within our infrastructure. We do not sell or share your data with AI training providers. You can turn off AI-generated features at any time using the AI opt-out toggle in your account Settings.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:
- With invited partners: As part of active relationships
- With service providers: Cloud hosting, authentication, and analytics services bound by confidentiality
- For legal compliance: When required by law or to protect rights and safety
- In business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can delete your account and data yourself at any time from your Settings; when you do, we remove it from our active systems promptly and purge any backups within 90 days, except where retention is required by law. Archived relationships are retained unless explicitly deleted by you.
7. User Rights and Controls
In line with GDPR and CCPA, you have the right to:
- ✓Export: Download a copy of your memories and moments directly from your account Settings
- ✓Correct: Update inaccurate information at any time
- ✓Delete: Permanently delete your account and data yourself from Settings
- ✓Opt-out: Turn off AI features or notifications using the toggles in Settings
8. Security Practices
We follow industry security best practices to protect your data, including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Secure authentication via Google OAuth
- Least-privilege staff access that is logged and audited
- Access controls and staff training
- Automatic logout and session management
No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work continuously to keep your data safe.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember preferences, and analyze usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not function properly if disabled.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell your browsing data.
10. Children's Privacy
Memoriya is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a minor, we will promptly delete it.
11. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the platform. Your continued use after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
